Statement from Susan Hall, leader of the GLA Conservatives following Liz Truss' resignation as Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative party:
"We pay tribute to Liz Truss for her service to our country as Prime Minister. She delivered the energy price guarantee to protect people from rising energy bills, reversed the rise in National Insurance and stood by Ukraine as it defends itself from Putin's illegal war.
The Conservative Party needs to move forward quickly with selecting the next Prime Minister, so that we can get on with maintaining our country's economic stability and delivering on the issues that matter to the British people."
